Personal best achievement: My Academic achievements – Masters in Business Leadership, Masters in Industrial Engineering, I am also Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA).

Most important commodities: IT, Infrastructure / Real Estate, Professional Services.

The person that has had the biggest influence on your life: My father, who instilled in me a passion for learning and growing.

The person that has had the biggest influence on your career:
Craig Coltman , CFO DeBeers Group Services, for his mentorship and guidance in my career at De Beers.

Ron Traill, CEO Mondi SA Division, for all the business lessons learnt notably during the economic crisis of 2008/9.

Person you would most like to meet: Madiba.

Businessperson who has impressed you most:
Rajen Reddy, CEO KZN Oils. An entrepreneur who was part of my Enterprise Development Programme at Portnet. Rajen is an absolute natural in commercial astuteness and entrepreneurship and has grown his business from a sole proprietorship in 1999 into a national business with a R1-billion turnover.

David Hathorn, CEO Mondi. Having worked at Mondi and experienced their global footprint of more than 30, I have great admiration for success achieved under David’s leadership in terms of their growth by acquisition, their separate listing from Anglo and various other milestones.

Your favorite South African organisation: Has to be all those that offered me employment and help shaped my career to date. FirstRand, my current employer, is fantastic in its entrepreneurial and owner managed culture with a very powerful employer value proposition.

Your favorite global organisation: As a South African I am unashamedly bias to previous employers De Beers and Mondi who are South African “born” with a firm global presence.

Your philosophy about life: Push Boundaries. “Explore how we can, rather than why we cannot”.

Favourite reading: A book on business philosophy named Shooting the Monkey by Colin Turner. I also enjoy anything on organisational development and Economics.

Favourite music: R n B (Not that I have any rhythm), I like Anita Baker.

Favourite sport: Soccer and Cricket (Strictly viewing).

Favourite website: I don’t have a favorite website, but Google is a great web tool.

Hobbies: Reading and Gym.

Car: Lexus IS-F.

Married: To Pamela for 14 years.

Children: Keayen 11 and Kimira 7.
