Prof Douglas Boateng honoured with first-ever HP SCM achievement award

Douglas Boateng, Professor of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and a member of SmartProcurement’s editorial board, was presented with the first-ever Hewlett Packard (HP) lifetime SCM leadership achievement award in September.

The award recognises Boateng’s role in educating policy makers, public officials and private-sector executives in Ghana about the powerful link between SCM and the United Nation’s sustainable development goals.

Presented at the launch of his latest book, Compendium of Supply Chain Management Terms, Boateng received a congratulatory message from Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Responding to the award, Boateng thanked HP for honouring him.

“The award is a clear indication that we should never give up on a cause that we believe can make a real and sustainable difference to the future socio-economic well-being of the African child. I am deeply humbled and thank you very much for the recognition.”

The book launch, which brought together hundreds of government officials, CEOs, academics and supply chain professionals, highlighted the growing need for a common understanding of the terminology and practices associated with SCM.

The Compendium provides a tool for creating this common understanding.
